Before Sunrise

This is the first in a trilogy of movies by Robert Linklater starring Ethan Hawke and Julie Deply.  It was released in 1995; the second, Before Sunset in 2004.  The latest, Before Midnight is in theatres now.  I don’t know how I missed the first two when they were first released.  I was determined to watch them both before seeing the newest installment in the series.  Each is set approximately nine years apart and chronicles, in a day’s time, the couple’s relationship; how is begins, how it grows and changes through the years.

What a beautiful love story.  Yes, very predictable.  Also simple, soft,and sensitive.  Beautiful young people acting spontaneously to capture the moment.  The city of Vienna adds a beautiful backdrop as the couple eagerly explore each other, filling every minute of their short time  together with moments that are guaranteed to make memories.

Of course I knew, even when they did not that Jess and Celine will have more than one day/one night together.  I knew that what they thought were perhaps only memory making moments were in fact the foundation upon which their love would be built.  It was breathtaking to watch it play out.

I recommend it…watch it along with a box of kleenex.

Inferno by Dan Brown

Robert Langdon, Dante Allegretti, Florence and… well I’m not going to tell you everything…all in the masterful hands of Dan Brown.  Page turning suspense.  It was a hit with me.

…a great hockey game last night.  So enjoyable to watch two top talented teams squaring off for the big prize…espcially because the HAWKS came out on top!

…morning yogurt with fresh strawberries, blueberries and peaches from the Farmer’s Market!

…good friends who always listen and always care.
